eDocuSend
eDocuSend is an internet based service for transferring files. It will enable you to send files to anyone in the world, without risking security and confidentiality.
How it Works:
- Fill out the online form, and choose the files to be sent.
- After the files are uploaded, an email is sent to the receiver containing a link to a secure download area.
- The receiver clicks the link, verifies his or her identity, and securely downloads their files.
- eDocuSend sends you (the sender) a notice when the files are downloaded.
Reliable Delivery:
eDocuSend ensures a file is never lost in transit once it makes it into the system. After a file is dropped off at eDocuSend, it is placed into protective storage until the files are downloaded. This process is completely automated to eliminate error prone manual administration.
Confidence and Compatibility:
eDocuSend is available on demand from any browser, and there is no additional software or hardware required to use it. In addition, anyone with access to the Internet can receive a file from an eDocuSend member. The recipient does NOT have to be a member or even know anything about eDocuSend in order to accomplish this task. Finally, the recipient can choose when they want to download a file. The recipient can wait to be on a faster connection or on the right computer before downloading a file.
eDocuSend Security Features
eDocuSend protects the privacy of senders and receivers at every point of the file transfer.
Encryption:
eDocuSend employs 128-bit SSL encryption from Thawte in order to protect all of our web traffic. For added security, all files waiting to be delivered are also encrypted on the file system level. This dual encryption strategy ensures your files remain secure and confidential.
Three-Tier Authentication:
In addition to encryption, eDocuSend also implements three layers of recipient authentication to prevent unauthorized access.
To pickup a file, the receiver must provide:
- A delivery ID, which is included in the email notification sent to the receiver, and is embedded into the link.
- The receiver's email address that matches the delivery ID, which prevents access with randomly generated delivery IDs.
- The download access code (optional): This prevents access in the unlikely event that the email notification gets intercepted and the first two layers are compromised. The access code is set by the sender for each delivery. The sender gives the access code to the receiver via email or phone to ensure maximum access protection.
The encryption and authentication protection systems are non-intrusively integrated into the system to maintain ease of use. The encryption and authentication are automatically engaged, and it only takes two clicks from an authorized receiver to download a file.
Benefits of eDocuSend
Large File Attachments
eDocuSend provides the ability to send files as large as 500MB to any email address, whereas regular email typically rejects file attachments larger than a single megabyte. Additionally, eDocuSend won't overload the recipient's inbox, since eDocuSend only needs to send a secure download link, without attachments, and for multiple files. The recipient may download their files at their own convenience.
Real-time Tracking and Alerts
eDocuSend provides real-time tracking and alert notification to let you know the exact status of each delivery. You never have to guess whether or not a crucial file was delivered accordingly. eDocuSend tracks when a recipient first reads the email notification, and also when they have successfully completed the download. The status of each recipient is individually tracked. This means that if you send a file to 10 people, you will know exactly who read the notification, and who accessed the file. As soon as a recipient reads the notification or accesses the files for download, eDocuSend will immediately send you a notification. You can monitor the status of your delivery without having to do anything special or complicated.
